Advice for off piste & ski touring
Preparation, equipment and safety
Are you dreaming of chasing powder after a large dump of snow? Here are some tips.
- Make sure you have the appropriate off-piste safety equipment with you (transceiver, shovel and probe as a minimum) and know how to use it
- You might also want an ABS bag, freeride or ski touring skis, skins for your skis, etc
- A helmet is strongly recommended
- Know when to call off an off piste outing (for example weather and/or avalanche conditions)
- Off piste safety equipment is offered free of charge if you book a group off piste outing with ESF
